Scholarships

Helping eligible students find financial assistance to help meet the cost of education is important to us. This is why we have a dedicated team of Financial Aid representatives with years of experience to assist you.

Below are a number of scholarship opportunities that are available to students interested in training in Beauty and Wellness. Details regarding scholarship requirements and deadlines are outlined. If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Buy-Rite’s Annual Beauty School Scholarship

Application Deadline: November 1, 2021

Buy-Rite Beauty has always made a point to promote the hairstylist, cosmetology & beauty industry as a growing career field. From working directly with local salons to donating products to beauty schools, supporting the industry has always been a staple of their business.

Scholarship: Buy-Rite Beauty will award a $1,000 scholarship to a hairstylist or cosmetology student who best exemplifies their core beliefs.

Qualifications: All participants must have applied to or be enrolled in as full-time beautician/cosmetology students.

Requirements: This award is available to hairstyling and cosmetology students who complete an essay showing their commitment to Buy-Rite’s core beliefs.

Moroccanoil John Heinemann Memorial Scholarship

Application Deadline: November 30, 2021

The Moroccanoil John Heinemann Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life of John Heinemann.  John Heinemann joined the Moroccanoil family as an Educator in 2013, and over the course of the following years, excelled in his role – educating and embodying the traits and qualities of a truly exceptional professional and individual. He was the recipient of Moroccanoil’s Above and Beyond award in both 2018 and 2019, and is the only Educator in the company’s history to have received an award more than once. He touched the lives of countless stylists during his time as an educator and through knowledge and education, elevated himself by lifting others.Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be a new or currently enrolled student in a cosmetology program
  • Must upload proof of enrollment i.e.: acceptance letter or progress report from school
  • Application must include three (3) photos of your artistic work on a mannequin, client or friends and family showing your creative abilities
  • Application must include a 3-minute (maximum) video answering the following questions:
  1. Describe a situation where you’ve gone above and beyond to serve your community.
  2. As you advance in your studies and career how will you help to champion confidence in other men and women?

Horst Rechelbacher – “Sustainable Beginnings”

Horst Rechelbacher Foundation’s “Sustainable Beginnings” basic cosmetology and barbering 2021  programs and will be awarded through the Beauty Changes Lives Organization. Applications are accepted in our spring season: March 1 – May 31, 2021 and our fall season: September 1 – November 30, 2021

Ten (10) total winners will be awarded: 5 in Spring and 5 in Fall

Scholarship Description & Award Information

In 1978, Horst Rechelbacher founded the Aveda Corporation, a global plant-based cosmetic company, & ushered a new consciousness into the world of beauty. Two decades later, he shifted focus to Intelligent Nutrients, a health & beauty company that lives to the highest standards of certified organic ingredients to sustainable plant-based chemistry. All of Horst’s innovations revolved around beauty products that would care for professionals, their guests & the planet through the power of pure flower & plant essences.

Horst’s entrepreneurial vision is to create successful businesses in partnership with nature. As he puts it, “Business can be a solution to our planet’s crisis rather than the problem. We are at the threshold of the Sustainable Evolution, and I believe it will be even greater than the industrial revolution. It is a very exciting time for innovative thinkers and future-minded entrepreneurs, who I call ‘Ecopreneurs.’

This scholarship is for prospective or currently enrolled student of the beauty industry. The “Sustainable Beginnings” scholarship is designed to financially support those seeking licensure in the fields of cosmetology or barbering.

Applicant Requirements – “Sustainable Beginnings” Basic Cosmetology

Scholarship requirements:

  • Must be a new or currently enrolled student in a cosmetology or barbering program must upload a legible copy of proof of enrollment i.e.: acceptance letter or progress report school that includes name of school and your name.
  • Must upload proof of enrollment i.e.: acceptance letter or progress report from school
  • Application must include a 3-minute video (max. length) answering the following questions:
    • (A.) Describe why environmental sustainability is important to you.
    • (B.) Describe one step that you have taken to help decrease waste.
    • (C.) After researching Horst Rechelbacher, what passions do you have in common with him?

Nourish and Shine Scholarship

Today our goal remains unchanged: to empower beautiful transformations and create products that inspire confidence.

Scholarship Award Details:

The JCS Beauty Nourish & Shine 2021 and 2022 Cosmetology Student Scholarship program is for people who identify as Black/African American.

  • Award Amount | # of Recipients
  • Three (3) scholarships are available during our spring 2021 season open from March 1 – May 31, 2021 for $5,000
  • Two (2) scholarship are available during our fall 2021 season open from September 1 – November 30, 2021 for $5,000

Applicant Requirements
The JCS Beauty Nourish & Shine scholarship will be available to people who identify as Black/African American. This scholarship is open to new or currently enrolled students in a cosmetology program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.

1. Complete online application and submit legible proof of enrollment for a cosmetology program by uploading either: an acceptance letter, progress report, or official letter from your school (include the name of the school and your first and last name on the form).

2. Submit answers to question (a) and either question (b) or (c) via a 3-minute (maximum) video.

A.) How do you see beauty as a tool for social change and how do you intend to make an impact?

B.) JCS Beauty looks to inspire the next generation of beauty innovators. Name a beauty innovator that inspired you; tell us how this motivates you to inspire the next generation of beauty professionals.

C.) Tell us what your beauty motto is and explain the meaning behind it.

Circadia – Sage Michaela Lucas “Timing is Everything”

Application Deadline: November 30, 2021

The Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything scholarship is generously funded by Circadia, a pioneer in the science of chronobiology and skincare. The Sage Michaela Lucas Timing is Everything award celebrates diversity, inclusivity and affirmation.  The scholarship is open to esthetics students enrolled in an accredited program, who identify as black, indigenous or persons of color (BIPOC). The scholarship grant targets esthetic students pursuing a career in skincare formulation and/or cosmetic chemistry.

Award Amount: Five $5,000 tuition scholarships will be awarded annually in 2021 and 2022.

Award Timing:Two (2) are disbursed during our spring 2021 opening March 1 – May 31, 2021.
The next three (3) for our fall 2021 season open from September 1 – November 30, 2021.

Applicant Qualifications: The applicant must identify as a person of color to qualify: BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or person of color). This scholarship is open to new or currently enrolled students in an esthetics program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.

Judging: A panel of judges representing the professional skincare sector will evaluate applicant’s video submissions and select winners.

Application Requirements: Complete the online application and submit proof of enrollment for an esthetics program by uploading a legible copy of:  acceptance letter, progress report, or official letter from your school (must include name of school and your first and last name).

Submit answers to questions (a) (b) and (c) via a 3-minute (maximum) video:

A.)If you were to win this scholarship, how do you plan to “pay it forward” once you have entered the industry and inspire the next generation of BIPOC hopefuls with similar goals?

B.) Name a person in the beauty industry you either know personally or follow on social media, that motivates you to stay committed to your dreams.  Explain how their story gives you hope about your career.

C.) Describe challenges you have overcome or life changing situations that turned into valuable lessons. What did you learn about yourself and how did you grow from these situations?

Babor – “Breaking Boundaries”

BABOR, a global leader in professional skincare, is generously funding four scholarships for black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) pursuing careers in the professional beauty industry. The new BABOR Breaking Boundaries Esthetics Scholarship is administered by the non-profit Beauty Changes Lives.

Embracing the spirit of BABOR, the BABOR Breaking Boundaries scholarship celebrates inclusivity, diversity and the many pathways to career satisfaction available to licensed professionals. The tuition scholarships open educational doors of opportunity that prepare students  to meet spa employers’ demand for estheticians, massage therapists and beauty professionals.

Award Amount: Four (4) $3,125 esthetics tuition scholarships will be awarded annually in 2021 and 2022.

Award Timing:

  • Two (2) scholarships will be available during our spring season March 1 – May 31, 2021.
  • Two (2) scholarships will be available during our spring season September 1 – November 30, 2021.

Applicant Qualifications

  • The BABOR Breaking Boundaries Esthetics Scholarship will be available exclusively to Black, Indigenous, People of Color in 2021. The applicants must identify as a person of color to qualify.
  • This scholarship is open to new or currently enrolled students in an Esthetics program that leads to licensure in the U.S. or Canada.

Application Requirements

  1. Complete online application and submit proof of enrollment for an esthetics program by uploading a legible copy of either: acceptance letter, progress report, or official letter from your school (must include name of school and your name).
  2. Submitted answers to question (a) and either question (b) or (c) via a 3 minute (maximum) video:   A.)We want you to unleash your full potential. Please describe a time when you overcame the odds in a situation and what were the results. B.) Why is skincare your passion? What do you hope to achieve in your career after Esthetic school? C.) True beauty is personal. How will you break the boundaries of what society thinks is “beautiful”?
