Below are a number of scholarship opportunities that are available to students interested in training in Beauty and Wellness. Details regarding scholarship requirements and deadlines are outlined. If you have additional questions, please contact us.

Love What You Do Scholarship Picture

Love What You Do Scholarship

Application Deadline: September 30, 2020

The Love What You Do Scholarship is a $2,000 tuition scholarship awarded by Sunstate Academy to 2020 high school seniors who enroll in the cosmetology program.

The scholarship is paid in the following increments when the eligibility requirements are met:
Hour 1- $750
Hour 450- $750
Hour 900- $500

To retain the scholarship students must meet the following conditions:

  • Students must start in the Cosmetology program for which they received the award.
  • Students who transfer to another Sunstate location to complete the same program will not forfeit the scholarship, but will also have the amount disbursed for each term adjusted.
  • Students must maintain continuous enrollment to remain eligible. No interruptions in study are permitted, i.e. Leave of Absence or withdraw.
  • Students must maintain 90% attendance and an 80% GPA to remain eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students must begin school prior to October 1, 2020 to be eligible.

The 2020 Sport Clips Scholarship Program

Application Deadline: December 31, 2020

To help cosmetology students reach their career goals, Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation’s leading men’s and boys’ hair care provider, awards up to 20 scholarships each year. To be considered for a scholarship, candidates must meet both academic and essay requirements established by Sport Clips. Each recipient is presented a $1,000 scholarship to help with educational expenses.

This is the eighth year the Georgetown, Texas-based company, which has more than 1,800 stores across the country and in Canada, has awarded scholarships to eligible students. To date, more than $70,000 in scholarship money has been awarded to promote quality cosmetology education.

“Our support of cosmetology students spans across the nation,” says Julie Vargas, Sport Clips Haircuts senior director of career opportunities. “We want these stylists to be equipped with the proper training and skills they need to be successful in the hair care industry upon graduation. We value their interest in quality education, and we’re honored to assist them with their career goals.”

Who says you can’t soar with shears? Great Clips encourages you to show the world what you’re all about. To make it easier, Great Clips provides over $100,000 in scholarships and professional tools to cosmetology students each year! The scholarship award and professional tools are valued between $250 – $1,500. The sign up period for the 2020 – 2021 Great Scholarship Event will open later this year. The Arnold M. Miller Find-A-Way Student Scholarship

Application Deadline: August 20, 2020

Arnie Miller had a Find-A-Way Attitude in business and his life. Whatever the challenge, he always found a way to make it happen! “Can’t do” wasn’t in his vocabulary. If you have a “Find-A-Way Attitude” in your life and career, this is the scholarship for you.

Scholarship: One (1) winner will be awarded up to $15,000 towards program tuition.

Qualifications: This Scholarship is open to new and current students. Students must provide proof of acceptance and/or proof of attendance at an accredited beauty school.

Requirement: Application must include three (3) photos of your artistic work on a mannequin, client or friends and family showing your creative abilities. Application must include a 3-5 minute video answering the following questions:
• (A.) Describe a life experience where you have exhibited a “Find – A – Way – Attitude”. Tell us about a time that you had to think outside of the box to solve a problem or achieve a goal.
• (B.) Include a description of your creative vision for the photos of your work
• (C.) Include a description of what a “Find-A-Way Attitude” helped advance their cosmetology career.

The Sydell L. Miller Total Image Esthetics Student Scholarship

Application Deadline: August 20, 2020

Sydell was the first beauty industry executive to believe “beauty doesn’t stop at the hairline.” Her Total Image Consulting Program was the Salon Owner’s guide to success in professional esthetics. If you believe in “Total Image” beauty and love skincare and cosmetics this is the scholarship category for you.

Scholarship: Two (2) Winners will be awarded up to $7,500 towards program tuition.

Qualifications: This scholarship is open to new and current students. Students must provide proof of acceptance and/or proof of attendance at an accredited beauty school.

Requirement: Submit a style portfolio containing two (2) different before-and-after photos of an esthetics treatment and a make-up application. The focus is on creating a spa-like feeling with the esthetics treatment and showing originality and artistic execution with the make-up model.

Application must include a 3-5 minute video answering the following questions:
• (A.) How will receiving this scholarship impact your life?
• (B.) Please describe your creative vision for the photos of your work and why esthetics is your passion.
• (C.) Tell us about the moment when you were absolutely certain that a career in esthetics was your calling. What challenges did you overcome to get here.
