If you’re among the skin fanatics who love getting regular spa facials but are not so crazy about the price tag, listen up! There are a ton of DIY face masks you can put together with ingredients from your own kitchen!
If you’re facial go-to is one that shrinks your pores, this is the recipe for you. Whisk together 1 egg white with 1 teaspoon of any citrus juice and ½ teaspoon of the turmeric off your spice rack. Apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water. The protein in egg whites kills bacteria that causes breakouts, the citrus gives your skin a blast of vitamin C and turmeric has natural brightening properties.
Sweet and savory
You probably wouldn’t want to eat this combo, but it is fully edible in theory. This cocoa-avocado-honey mask is a triple threat – super-hydrating avocado, antioxidant-packed cocoa, and anti-inflammatory honey. Mix together ¼ of an avocado with 1 tablespoon each of cocoa and honey and apply to your skin for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water and enjoy your smooth, refreshed face!
If you suffer from hyperpigmentation or sun spots, this mask is perfect for you. Thoroughly blend together ½ cup of mashed papaya and 2 tablespoons of honey and apply to your face for 20 minutes. Wash off and apply your usual moisturizer.
For a deep moisturizing mask, mash a banana and apply to your skin for 10-20 minutes. If your skin is acne-prone, mix in a couple tablespoons of honey.
Experimenting with facials is fun and doesn’t cost a fortune. So, see what’s in your pantry and mix up a skin-tastic facial for yourself.
