Continuing Education Courses

The main objective of this course is the actual practice of Deep Tissue / Thai Bodywork as it applies to client consultation, massage movements, and application of techniques. It will cover the effects, benefits, and contraindications of Deep Tissue / Thai Bodywork. Students will review musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

The course will focus on the actual practice of Deep Core Fascia Techniques, in terms of client consultation, massage movements, and application of techniques. The course will cover the concepts, guidelines, effects, benefits, and contraindications of Deep Core Fascia Techniques. The student will review Postural, Gait, and Supine assessments.

The main objective of this course is to teach the massage therapist more tests of the hip and spine regions. The student will understand the anatomy of each region and the muscles attached. It will teach the student to use subjective assessment of each region and what ranges of motion are acceptable for these regions. This course will cover how to observe each region to look for symmetry/asymmetry of bones and bony landmarks, as well as the limitations performing ranges of motion in each area.

The primary goal of this course is to prepare massage therapists to administer pre-natal massage techniques. The student will be expected to practice various skills learned in class that may enhance your ability to succeed in the field of massage therapy. The most important phase of any bodywork happens before the therapist’s hands ever touch the client. Clear communication is essential. High ethical standards are required, and, most of all, the desire to help others feel better via safe, nurturing touch.

This course offers guidelines on how to perform a hot stone massage. Students will learn the history of hot stone massage, the types of stones used, the benefits and effects of heat on the body, and precautions and contraindications of hot stone massage. A hot stone routine will be demonstrated and practiced.

Reflexology Certification – 18 Credits – Completion of phase 1, 2, & 3 and a passing grade on the Reflexology Certification Final

This course is the first in a 3 Phase series to Reflexology Certification. In Phase 1, the student will learn the history of reflexology, the driving principles validating the technique, and the therapeutic effects reflexology has on the body’s glands and organs. Hand placement and techniques are demonstrated and practiced. The class will chart the regions of the body as they map out to the feet and hands.

This course is the second in a 3 Phase series to Reflexology Certification. Phase 2 will focus on the skeletal muscles within the body. Alternative reflexology techniques are taught to relax the muscles through manipulations of the nerves of the feet. These techniques are capable of making the muscles of the body more relaxed than a traditional full body massage. All techniques will be demonstrated and practiced.

This course is the final in a 3 Phase series to Reflexology Certification. In order to take this class, both Phase 1 and Phase 2 have to have been completed. This phase will review both Phase 1 and Phase 2 techniques. Passing of the “hands on” assessment along with written test will lead to Reflexology Certification.

This course offers guidelines on how to work smarter not harder in regards to body positioning. Techniques for performing a massage in a manner that maximizes efficient delivery and minimizes stress on the body will be taught. Additionally, self-care techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat if you have one.

This course is designed to give the student a working knowledge of postural muscle assessments and muscle energy techniques. The instructor will review how to use these techniques in massage.

Sports Certification – 24 Credits – Completion of Sports Phase 1 & 2 and Stretching Phase 1 & 2 and a passing grade on the Sports Certification Final

This course offers guidelines on how to perform a pre-event sports massage. The student will learn indications, contraindications, and benefits of receiving a pre-event massage. Students will learn common sports massage strokes, and use of hydrotherapy in sports massage. A pre-event routine will be demonstrated and practiced.

This course offers guidelines on how to perform an interim and post-event sports massage. The student will learn indications, contraindications, and benefits of receiving both interim and post-event massage. Students will learn common sports massage strokes, and use of Cryotherapy in sports massage. A post-event routine will be demonstrated and practiced. Students will also learn about common sports related injuries.

This course reviews the benefits of stretching and explains the contraindications of stretching. This course specifically reviews the proper stretching techniques for the neck, upper arms and shoulder area.

Spa & Body Certification – 12 Credits – Completion of Spa Phase 1, 2 & 3 and a passing grade on the Spa Certification Final

This course offers guidelines on how to perform a hot stone massage. The student will learn indications, contraindications, and benefits of hot stone massage. Hot stone techniques will be demonstrated and practiced.

This course offers guidelines on how to perform a body scrub and exfoliation. The student will learn indications, contraindications, and benefits of exfoliation. Body scrub techniques will be demonstrated and practiced.

This course offers guidelines on how to perform a body wrap. The student will learn indications, contraindications, and benefits of body wrapping. Body wrap techniques will be demonstrated and practiced.

Eyelash Extension Certification – No Credits

Learn the application process of semi-permanant individual eyelash extensions. With this certification, you will learn:

  • Patterns and Placements
  • Length and Diameter of Eyelashes
  • Adhering Lashes to Natural Eyelashes
  • Product Knowledge
  • Colored Eyelash Incorporation
  • Client Analysis (Sensitive and Non-Sensitive)
  • Customized Eye Types

Waxing class will cover anatomy of the hair follicle, contraindications, health and safety, sanitation and hygiene, walk-thru demos, clean-up process, and more.

Also students will be practicing on each other by waxing legs, arms, lip, and chin. The class includes a waxing starter kit.
